The end of 19th century was marked by a large number of refugees seeking protection for their families and their lives. The international community has begun to work more intensively on the cooperation between states and on development of an international protection system that will recognize the rights on protection of those who request it.this had led to the right to asylum wich is guaranteed as a fundamental human right in many countries. Asylum is the protection of an individual provided by the state in whose territory the person is located. As a fundamental right, it is regulated by international law and the Constitutions of countries in order to properly implement protection. Anyone can be an asylum seeker under assuming entry in the territory of another country and immediatly asking for protection. After a positive decision and recognition of asylum status, a person has right to remain in the country and eventuallx acquire rights as well as the domicile population. The paper analyzes the development of the asylumsystem, legal framewor, roles of international organizations that are directly involved in the process of providing international protection.
