Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The New Public Management is administrative doctrine and movement that emphasizes economic values in public administration, subjecting the state administration and public sector organizations to market principles. It also emphasizes the methods of developing entrepreneurial behaviour in public administration. The New Public Management in the UK was characterised by distrust towards the public sector, and the whole doctrine was initiated by the neo-liberal ideology of Margaret Thatcher. The reforms in Denmark were slow, continuous, thorough and mostly aimed at the introduction of management techniques. While the reforms in Germany were mainly initiated from the bottom up, in France they were conducted by the central government (top-down).Croatian public administration has been affected by an agencification fever, as one of the most important development trends in public administration worldwide.
